(Lil's favorite scripture from our New Testament studies)
At the beginning of our school year, I felt inspired to start our day with "Stories of Jesus" time. We've been studying the New Testament. Each day we read a story from the New Testament manual; and each week, we memorize one scripture from our week's lessons. I've been incredibly overwhelmed by the capabilities of my little ones! Not only do they memorize the words, but they understand and feel the scriptures too. They have quoted them as comforts during daily situations. And, the scriptures have popped into my heads to give me needed guidance.

I'm a worrier. I come from a long line of women worriers. So, even though I know homeschooling is the right choice for our family this year, I worry about it. I worry about teaching too little, or teaching too much and taking over their childhood. I worry about teaching the most important things and if I'm teaching at all - or just "telling." :) Not to mention the social aspect - that sends me in a tizzy of worry! So, when the prophets and apostles spoke to the world in October during General Conference, I had a prayer in my heart asking for help with my little home school. When I heard this quote from Elder Richard G. Scott, I felt an overwhelming sense of peace:
"The scriptures provide the strength of authority to our declarations when they are cited correctly. They can become stalwart friends that are not limited by geography or calendar. They are always available when needed. Their use provides a foundation of truth that can be awakened by the Holy Ghost. Learning, pondering, searching, and memorizing scriptures is like filling a filing cabinet with friends, values, and truths that can be called upon anytime, anywhere in the world." - Richard G. Your girls are too cute. I love the videos and am glad the Lord helped you find your answer through conference. It's amazing what we do when we are open to His guidance.
I'm so glad that talk was a favorite! I don't know why, but E. Scott almost always has a special message for me personally...whether I ask or not. And this talk was no exception. so awesome.
