Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge


Field trip Friday! We explored Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge for the first time, and we're fans. We'll surely go back!  Inside, there's a little room for hands-on exploring - it helps the kids get ready to track animal life.


We  took a nature trail to a Tualatin River lookout point.
See that pointed toe and pose? That's all natural. I didn't teach or request the model moves. Ha!

 
My favorite part was identifying a Spotted Towhee, thanks to this sign. We had seen the bird earlier, foraging on the forest floor, but didn't know what it was, or why it was making such noise dancing among fallen leaves - now we know!
