Cannons!

It's kind of hard to see - but these three pirates have set sail on stormy seas. They've spied an enemy ship in the distance, and they're preparing for battle. It all goes along with the theory of "loose parts" - where children take materials that can be carried, combined, lined up, etc to create imaginative worlds.

It's not something I teach the kids, they just innately gravitate towards this kind of play as new objects make their way into the room. GPa gave E! that huge cardboard roll. It has been used for so many things - like when it slanted down from the top bunk and shot out racecar balls in all different directions, or when it was at the top of the narrow stairs and the kids practiced shooting balls in different angles to cross the stairs and plop in a bucket.
