Music & art mashup - An American in Paris

We love our "Can You Hear It?" book by the Metropolitan Museum of Art (thank you, GG and Joe Joe!). This week's music and art mashup involved "Avenue Du Bois" by Kees van Dongen and the lively piece called "An American in Paris" by George Gershwin.

Here, the kiddos are each playing a role while we listen to the song. E! is the car horns, Lil is the people rushing by, and Big is the horses clomping.

Then we made our own artwork using oil pastels and only outlines of faces with little details. The guidelines were to draw our family - and put us in a favorite place. Big drew us as gnomes in a field with flowers, Lil drew us on the beach with a sunset, and I drew us in front of the Eiffel Tower. (might as well dream big, right?)
