Homeschool snapshots

Each day, Lil works on writing a letter of the alphabet. After she can write the capital and lowercase letter without any extra help, she can "pass it off" - and she gets a special sticker of that letter. She takes the sticker and writes the letter next to it on one master paper that she has a special spot for in her binder. This week, Lil loved L - super simple letter gave her a boost of confidence (and what child --or adult for that matter-- doesn't need a boost of confidence every now and then?).

Our church was giving away this electric typewriter! I was sooo excited because I had been searching for an old typewriter that I know is in our garage somewhere. Since Big Sis is reading a book about a girl who liked to type up newspaper articles for her dad, I thought this would be perfect!! There was a grand unveiling of the surprise ... but sadly, it wasn't ready to go yet (my fault for not checking it out first!). I have ordered new ribbon, and hopefully we'll be up and running this week.

Every morning, our homeschool begins with "Stories of Jesus" time. We're studying the New Testament. And we're trying to memorize a scripture each week. I have been tickled that both girls have been able to accomplish the goal each week, and that they remember all the weeks prior!

This week, our scripture was Luke 2:52, "And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature in favor with God and man." To introduce that scripture, we divided a large paper into the four areas: Wisdom, Stature, God, Man. Then, we talked about how we can make sure we're growing in each area. I did not handfeed them answers - they came up with the responses on their own - and I was blown away!!!
