We read this simple book about bats - it points out interesting facts, like how bats are the only mammals that can fly.
Our big baby boy sure loves books. They hold his attention much longer than any toy. When I read books to the children at lunch time, he wants to see the pictures, he wants an animated voice and he wants to be included in everything we talk about. We didn't leave him out of our handy Halloween bat craft:
Big Sis remembered this craft from last year, as soon as we pulled them out of our Halloween decor box. She wanted to create new ones, right away. So, we dated this year's little handy bats, then compared size from last year ... oh how tiny fingers grow fast. Add that to the long list of reasons we love homeschool ...
This week we've all had some sort of nasty fall initiation cold. It hasn't been fun. School has been relaxed, short and simple ... and just what we needed. It was awesome to remind myself that if we were in public school, we wouldn't be in school at all - definitely "sick days" would have added up. So, we took it easy, knowing that it was better than nothing ... and it was just the reminder I needed to stick to the basics, and keep it simple. One of my favorite scriptures is "By small and simple things, shall great things come to pass." - it's the reason I can homeschool without having my head explode with the responsibility we're taking on. Little by little, we're gaining wisdom. Really, it's amazing.

I love your cute home school! Makes me want to give it a try... but I fear I'd get too overwhelmed with it! Way to go though, you are like super mom!
Thanks, Shawna! I love your blog too!! And you could totally try a little school at home - even a fun art project in the afternoon, or a special "Mommy&Me lesson" here and there. I have to keep it simple or I will get overwhelmed too! :) But they love it, and it teaches me and them so much ... anyway, good luck!
