We read a book called "Inch by inch" and then made our own inch rulers to measure household items. Each girl made a chart with the item, estimate, actual measurement and then the difference.
They really got into this project - and it was a lot of fun.
It was helpful in so many ways: practice writing numbers, making estimates, subtraction, etc.
