A is for apple

Despite the lack of posts, school is in session at the Poe household. We're really working with Lil on learning her letters. So, we started at the beginning. A is for apple.

And apples grow on trees.

Magical, mystical mac-n-art.

We talked about textures and gave these pics to a blind, elderly woman who lives up the road. She couldn't see the pictures, but she could feel them - that tickled the girls.

B is for butterflies.

C is for caterpillars, made of circles.

C is also for coast; and since we just got back from a trip there, we made family photo puzzles.

This watery bead bag idea came from another blog. We practiced lefts and rights (get all the beads on the left of the line), math (can you get three beads on one side of the line) and Big found all the ways to add numbers and make 5 (one bead on the left plus four beads on the right make five). It kept them entertained for a while.

We also went to the park, collected acorns and counted them. Big collected near 100 and Lil got more than 20. :)

We used these frogs for some math problems - hard to see in the pics, but we just made circles and put numbers in them for Lil. She'd match the amount of frogs to the right number. Big would do simple addition.
