It's February, and plenty of love is in the air - so much so, in fact, that we're asking for some of it. There are three special people in our lives who could use extra prayers in their behalf. And since it seems like every week I learn about more and more people who check in on this blog, I figured this is a good place to make our request. So, here are the three who need the extra prayers (not in any particular order):
1. My mom. Two days after Christmas we learned that she has a benign brain tumor (accoustic neuroma to be specific). She's having brain surgery soon to get it removed ... it's a critical and delicate surgery with a serious recovery time. Please pray for her.
2. UPDATE: My dad. He's been fighting off thyroid cancer for a while now. He's preparing for his fourth surgery to remove several tumors in his neck (we know of at least 11, and there are probably more). This week we learned that there are new suspicious nodules in his right lung and lymph nodes around his heart ... that's bad news. He'll still have the surgery, but that will only address the ones in his neck. I guess we'll tackle the new ones later. Please pray for him.

3. Aunt Shar. Congratulations to Shar, because she's officially on the lung transplant list! Now it's a waiting game to see when the new lung comes. Shar is a survivor. She's survived LAM, or lymphangioleimyomatosis, a rare lung disease, for 15 years - when the docs gave her about 10 years to live. She needs our prayers; please pray for her.
*My parents' church ward will host a special prayer/fast day for these fabulous people on Sunday, Feb. 7. So if a ton of people could join in prayer for them on that day, we'd appreciate it. The collective power of prayer and faith can do wonders. Last night my parents each received a priesthood blessing that was AMAZING. We know that through faith, they will make it through this. And we're so excited for Shar to take a deep breath again! These trials are hard, and stressful, but I know they're for our good in the eternal-scheme of things. Thanks for your support and love!

I'm so sorry for all of your worries. We will fast for your family this sunday for sure. Prayers and thoughts are with you this month from our family to yours. ~The Herrings
Your Aunt Shar is in my thoughts and prayers... I can imagine the fight she's had with LAM -- 15 years is pretty amazing... I have cystic fibrosis so I understand what it feels like to live with 10 to 15% lung capacity...
I breathe with beautiful, new lungs now - lungs from a precious 17-year-old girl who told her family how strongly she felt about organ donation in the month before she passed away. Twice. I think of her throughout the day, every day - I can see her smile when I close my eyes. I've been breathing with her beautiful lungs for almost 10 years now...
I hope your Aunt's journey is as amazing as mine has been. I hope her wait is quick, and her surgery and recovery go smoothly. And I hope she understands what this feels like very soon...
I have a website with some of our story, and mostly dedicated to my donor at www.ClimbingForKari.org My email is at the bottom of that website if your Aunt Shar (or anyone else) has questions or wants a little support...
Love, Steve
Wow! We need to talk! I read this and I feel so sad for the trials your family is facing! We will definitely pray and fast for your family! Please keep us posted!
I am sorry to hear about all these trials going on with your sweet fam. I will for sure be thinking and praying for your Mom, Dad, and Shar. Give Roger and Julie a squeeze for me.
prayer and fasting coming right up.
Did we really sign up for all this before we came to earth? I know we did; but I didn't know it'd be this hard.
I was sad to hear about all of the health trials that your family is going through right now. We'll be sure to keep you in our prayers.
They're in our prayers, Jessica. You too.
