Big Sis' Big Birthday Food Drive

For Big Sis' 8th bday she really wanted a birthday party worthy of the occasion. We invited several friends over to collect food for the local food bank. A week prior, Big Sis wrote a letter and delivered it to all the neighbors so they'd know she was coming. To our delight and surprise, so many sweet neighbors left bags of food on their doorsteps - some even with presents, cards/notes or decorated bags! I was particularly thrilled with how our party attendees caught the spirit. One little girl shouted, "Hey! This is actually fun!" - it was sweet ... and it was VERY cold. I think it was about 30 degrees out, so we bundled up and then came back for hot cocoa!

192 lbs. of canned food! It made our jaws drop. Wow!

After the collection, everyone hopped up to the kitchen table for a different kind of service activity.
We provided a variety of beads and gift boxes, and each guest could make a beaded necklace or bracelet for someone. With Christmas right around the corner, this gave the girls a chance to make a gift without the receiver knowing.

We had tons of fun with different kinds of beads! I think it was a success!
