It's sad to say goodbye to summer. I love the laid-back momentum and being outside for the majority of the day. We still have a bit of sunshine in the forecast, but I'm preparing myself for the inevitable. For example, we'll soon move our outdoor plays indoors. I believe these two pictures were from a thrilling performance of "Snow White."
Also, this summer my little tykes committed themselves to many extra chores, so they could raise money for our trip to Seattle's American Girl store (another post on that to come!). Here they are sweeping the front porch and shaking out the rug. They had a chunk of change to raise at the last minute because ...
Some of the girls' money went towards elephant ears at the fair. They had talked about it all year! They had no problem eating the entire thing (they were nice enough to share with E! and their parents); and yes, they said it was completely worth every penny.
Part way through the rodeo, the announcer asked all children to come down for the boot toss. Big Sis took off before we even had a chance to say anything about it. Her red cowboy boots were tossed into the arena - amongst all the children's footwear - and she raced to find them, put them on again, and head back to the rodeo clown. She had a blast!
Lastly, this is the summer of dress up. Here's E! in his "obedience costume." When he's being super obedient, he can wear it. :) Looks pretty awesome, huh? We'll see if it's still in one piece by Halloween.
