We're reading "Pilgrim Stories" by Margaret Pumphrey during our meals right now.
So, when these boxes started piling up, I knew just what to do: act it out!
This is our new house in Holland, after we left our home in England because we didn't want to go to King James' church. The brown paper (which stretched from front door to back) is the canal that runs through the city. Big Sis is selling cheese and milk out of her cart, pulled by her dogs. We have containers out to get fresh water from the next boat - since our canal is dirty. There's a lucky stork living in our chimney, and Lil Sis is making some "hodgepodge" and sweetcakes for dinner.
After repairing a leak in the dike and gathering tulips, we had a cleaning day to get the dust off our house. These kids love playing imagination, and acting out the story helped us remember some details from the book as well as check some reading comprehension. Great fun!
