It's that magical time of year: Back to School time!
We're officially in session; and here are three things start our school days:
1. A morning chore sheet. Each girl received one of these.
She's in charge of having these tasks completed before breakfast.
2. A schedule.
This year's schedule is more flexible. Like "Wow! What a wonderful world" - that can encompass history, science, character study, and so much more. Also, we've added school to our afternoons - this might not last all year, but with the beauty of the earth and weather during fall, we're often found doing nature journals or painting outside ... We have to take advantage of this precious time!

3. A vision. I attended an LDS Homeschooling conference and walked away inspired to create a vision of my "dream" homeschool - to know what I'm aiming for. I try to read it each morning, to keep me focused. Here it is:
My homeschool vision …
In our home and school life, the heart and core of
an individual comes first. In other words, character precedes academics.
Father, mother, sisters and brothers learn together by playing, working and
thriving together. We uplift and inspire one another while exploring and
praising God’s creations; and experiencing our own creativity. Our home is full
of laughter, deep breaths, music, cheerleading, whimsical moments, work,
meditation, service, virtue, books, nature and love. We take time to connect
with each other; slowing down to think and feel before we speak and do. We seek
after the Holy Spirit’s constant guidance and we look forward with an eternal
perspective; trusting that days and years of tiny, ordinary moments, decisions
and habits will transform into deep, royal character and powerful testimonies
of Christ. No matter the stage or season, we cherish it. Therefore, we begin
each new day and season, knowing we received full joy from the last.
