Homeschool: Patterns of Nature

We read "Lots and Lots of Zebra Stripes: Patterns in Nature" by Stephen R. Swinburne, and then went on a hunt for patterns in nature at our favorite local state park. The idea is from our favorite "Playful Learning" book.

As we strolled, we came across a community of beautiful toadstool mushrooms. They were PERFECT Poe Gnome mushrooms - and I've never before seen this kind of mushroom in real life. We were so excited by them - I wish I could bottle the enthusiasm and energy we received when we found these mushrooms! And Heavenly Father made a perfect pattern on them, and it felt like He placed them there just for us ... honestly, they were like a rejuvenating tender mercy.
Here are three more pics from our journey.

Little Man found this leaf with a pattern of lines ...and it was big enough he could snuggle with it.

We are taking all of the photos and making a nature book ... eventually.
I'm sure there will be more posts to come.
