Crabs!

In Oregon, you can only keep the males.
This is what a female looks like ... and we sure saw a lot of little lady crabs.


The bait: mink.



The only boy was too small. He's measuring ... too sad.

One of my favorite moments was when we met this OSU fish biologist. He and his friend had caught two 25 lb salmon, and two small ones. He gave us a fish anatomy lesson as he gutted the beauties - even opened the stomach so we could see the candlestick fish they'd had for lunch. The eggs were amazing - I had no idea there were so many. It was a homeschooling-at-it's-finest moment.
