March Madness

To get ready to care for G-Ma after her surgery, we learned a little about nurses (including some history on Florence Nightingale) and a little about how it can take a long time to get better. One of our projects was making non-slip socks for G-Ma, and GG came to help! The girls had fun squeezing puff paint (in fact, we couldn't get them to let us help very much).

Special loves and time with GG! Lil Sis LOVES to run around the house yelling, "GG! Joe Joe!" - she'd play with them all day if she could.

I haven't made a blog post in a bit, simply because we don't have much to update on. Alex's knee is still a mystery (he had his MRI today -- finally!); we'll know more after Thursday.

G-Ma is enduring her recovery with a smile. We haven't been able to see her much, because the girls came down with runny noses and a cough. Boo. But I know the last thing GMa needs is a head cold on top of the dizzy, bouncy, buzzing post-brain surgery symptoms. So ... we've been resting:

And our house hosted an intimate family party. Big Sis wrote up the invite (especially for Dad):

It reads, "You're invited to a dance party and brinner. Dress up fancy." For some background info: we have dance parties. A lot of dance parties. It involves turning the lights off, having some sort of glow sticks to twirl, lively music and spinning dance moves. Alex enjoys it the most. :)
Oh, and "brinner" is breakfast for dinner - a favorite at our house.

My little 4-year-old just keeps growing up. She gave an excellent talk about prophets in Primary this Sunday. I'll put up a video soon. She loves writing and reading, and she's doing well with addition. She knows about 20 of the 50 states in the U.S.. She loves to memorize things. We've been taking "school" informally and slowly - partly because we've got a lot going on, partly because she's 4 and I'd like her to set the pace. But every day she pulls out pencils and paper and asks me to writing things so she can copy them. Today she drew burrows for bunnies, counting litters of baby rabbits and then labeling them with the correct number -- just cuz she wanted to.

I can't believe this one will be two in a few months! My Lil Helper loves to unload the dishwasher (see her finished product?). Music has an impact on her - "Once there was a snowman" is her favorite song to sing. Sing her "I am a Child of God" and she'll melt into a snuggle, nearly asleep. Her favorite color is orange, she can nearly count to 10, and she loves to eat snacks.

Today we learned about rabbits. After reading books from the library and making paper plate rabbit faces, we headed to Fir Point Farms to see the real deal. We went with our sweet friend and her son, who's Lil's age.

Ah, a gloriously warm spring day. Loved it!!!

Ok, more "newsy" updates later ... thanks for reading the rambles of our March Madness.

What a sweet moment. I hope your parents are doing well. My new sister in law got diagnosed with cancer right before Chrismas...so scary.
